This week we have been learning all about keeping our teeth healthy. We had a visit from a dental nurse who taught us how to brush our teeth properly, when to brush them and she told us some facts about our teeth!
Florence - "I have 20 teeth! When your baby teeth fall out the tooth fairy comes and then your adult teeth grow."
Jacob - "Germs from your mouth go into your tummy. We have to brush our tongues too!"

Today Hampshire County Council food team came in to teach us all about healthy food and healthy drink. We made a fruit kebab and had a fruit smoothie!
Leighton - "Pineapple, apple, mango, grapefruit is good for you!"
Jacob - "Water is good for you because it nice and healthy and it hasn't got any sugar in it."

We have been performing our Christmas Nativity this week. We were angels in the Nativity! 2 Puffins were very brave and took on a speaking role in the play. All of the adults were very proud of us!

Today our mums and dads came into school and we made some Christmas crafts together. We made a clay candle pot, a lantern, a stained glass window, paper chains and a cracker!

Today we are raising money for children in need! We came to school dressed in Pudsey or spotty clothing, completed Pudsey activities and took part in Joe Wicks live workout session with Pudsey bear!

This week we had a special drama lesson from Perform4All. We had to help black cat escape from pan dragon!! We had great fun singing songs, playing games and acting out using our imagination!

We went for an Autumn wellie walk today looking for signs of Autumn!
"I found some leaves on the floor. I found brown, green, yellow and red leaves. The brown leaves were blown off the tree. I found one helicopter, you throw them in the air and they spin! I didn't see a fox, sometimes you see them at night and a hedgehog at night." - Florence
"I found some leaves, green and red and brown. It's got eaten by a caterpillar cos' it's got a hole! The leaves change colour and they fall of the tree cos' the wind comed. Conkers fall off the tree but we didn't find any." Quincey
We have been learning The Gingerbread Man story! We have been using actions to help us retell the story and painting lots of pictures. We also made gingerbread men.

We went on our school trip to Longdown Dairy Farm today. We had great fun feeding the goats their food, feeding kids their milk, holding chicks and guinea pigs, stroking very large rabbits, carefully carrying newly laid eggs for the farmer, seeing baby piglets and going on a bumpy tractor ride! We were very lucky to miss the rain too! We also took some selfies on the bus!

Today we had a special assembly from Sue and her guide dog called Rachel. They visited us in our classroom and we got to ask lots of questions about how Rachel helps Sue. We even got to stroke Rachel (when Sue took off Rachel's lead!).
"Dogs have to go to puppy school to learn how to do tricks. Then they go and get an owner who is blind. They help them cross the road, not walk into things and protect them. They wear a Hi-Viz like policemen." Sebastian

Today we celebrated D-Day. We had a special assembly with some visitors who told us what they thought D-Day was about. We made a very large collage of D-Day with the Owls which took us all day to make! We also had a picnic lunch and watched the Red Arrows performance. Here's what some of the Puffins think about D-Day...
"The soldiers died because they wanted us to have peace. They went on boats because they couldn't swim across the water. They had to shoot the baddies to let us be in peace. The girls helped as well, they were brave, because I know when I saw them in assembly those gentlemen looked brave and kind." Raven

We have been learning all about animals this week. Today we had special visitors from the vets. They taught us about their job and what they do and how to look after animals when they are poorly.
We had 30 seconds to see how many jumps we could do on the bouncy castle! We had great fun!

We have been learning all about the Gruffalo this week! We have made Gruffalo biscuits, made a Gruffalo in the craft area and created a collage of a character from the story. We have also been learning to retell the story using actions to help us remember.
Today we celebrated World Book day by dressing up as our favourite story book character.

Today we walked to St Vincent College to watch their vaulting performance. We had great fun watching all the different techniques the students had been learning. We made our own masks for the performance and we got given glow sticks too! At the end of the show we all got up and danced to some music.

Today we had some children visit us all the way from China. We learnt about Chinese New Year, how to speak Mandarin and we watched some Kung-Fu. The children came to play with us in the afternoon. They told us about their school day and how it is different to schools in England.

Today we had our remembrance assembly on South Campus. We walked very sensibly, showed respect during the assembly and some children laid poppies outside.

The children have been challenging themselves in Plan Do Review this week, linking to Maths! We've had careful counting to 10 using spiders, recognising and counting 1p coins in our nail bar role play and selecting big and small shoes for a character on Education City.

We had Open Box theatre company visit us today! They performed Aesop's Fables to us. We laughed so much and had great fun watching it! They showed us how to perform to an audience and we've been practicing it in the Puffin's class by learning our story of the week 'Goldilocks'. We used loud, clear voices and actions to help us tell the story.
Max - "I liked them when they were cleaning because I thought it was going to be water but it was paper!"
Theo - "I liked all of it because it was so funny!"
Evie - "I liked the bunny character, you have to try, try, try."
Millie - "The wolf was naughty because he was lying. Don't tell lies be honest."

Today we made our own tasty sandwich! We carefully spread butter on our bread, cut it in half and then chose 2 different fillings for each sandwich.
Aaleahya - "I make sandwiches at home with mummy. We make some for Kelvin. He likes ham and cheese like me. I like ham best, it tastes good!"
Sebastian - "I love butter it tastes so delicious. I liked just the butter one the best."
Oliver - "Sandwiches make us nice and strong!"

This week we have been learning the story of the Gingerbread Man. On Wednesday we made our very own gingerbread men. We thought about our senses as we made them.

We had Sports day today! We all joined in lots of fun activities and races. 3 Puffins won their races and received a medal! We had great fun and were very tired in the afternoon!

Today we celebrated Fathers Day. Our daddies and some of our mummies came in to help us make a paper aeroplane and then we flew them outside!

We have been learning all about the farm for the last 2 weeks and today we went to visit Longdown Dairy Farm! We fed goats and kids, held chicks, stroked rabbits and guinea pigs and went on a very bumpy tractor ride! We saw lots of other animals too. We even collected eggs and carried them all the way back to the reception without dropping any!

Today we had a Veterinary Nurse and Receptionist visit our class. They taught us all about their job role and how important they are for animals. We completed exciting activities including answering phone calls, putting bandages on poorly animals and using tweezers to pull out bones! We had great fun!

The Royal Navy visited us today! They taught us about how they provide security at sea. They even brought in a special machine to show us which takes images of the seabed in order to help detect mines.

Today we had members of the armed forces in to teach us all about their job. We learnt the importance of democracy and how the armed forces keep our country safe. It was really exciting trying the uniform on. We even got to be medics! We wore hats and gloves and wrapped bandages round injured arms and legs

Here are some pictures of what we have been choosing to learn in Plan, Do, Review this week! We've had a very coordinated game of skittles and 2 children recording the number of skittles knocked down. Alex was feeling very proud of the tall tower he made. He then put 3 towers in order of size. Alex said "this one's the shortest and this one's the tallest!". Jovie is showing her understanding of safety by ensuring the floor is dry. "We don't want anyone to slip!" she said. Stanley and Robert showed great effort in their writing this week and were feeling very proud of themselves.

This week we have been learning all about exercising and keeping fit. A PE coach came to visit us and told us about the importance of exercise. We also did some exercise routines, they were great fun!

This week we are learning the story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Today we made porridge and put our favourite topping on top! It was yummy! Some of the children decided we should make porridge for the three bears to eat because Goldilocks ate their porridge. However, some children thought we should make some for Goldilocks because she might have just been hungry.

The Puffins experimented with ice and coloured salt water to make ice caverns. "It's melting because of the salt." "It's getting inside the ice." "The ice changed colour." "It looks like a volcano!" "This one has a hole in the middle of it."

We danced to Christmas songs and played "corners" with Year 1.
We ate lots of party food and Father Christmas came.
Mike helped us make our christingles.
We took them to our special christingle assembly where we learnt the history and meaning of them and sang "This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine ......"
