This has been a fantastic book week. We have taken part in lots of brilliant activities to do with our class book which is Beast Quest.
Look at our fantastic photos and feel the excitement that our children experienced.
This is what some of us thought about the vaulting display.
Oliver - It was really good fun I liked the back flips and somersaults.
Lily-Rose - I liked it, it was really good and I enjoyed dancing at the end.
Emily - It was amazing that teenagers can do all that.
Noah - It was really good I liked all the flips.
Jake said "Two ladies showed us different instruments and played some tunes we knew and some we didn't know. One of the ladies showed us her favourite instrument. We had a lot of fun".
Li said "I liked the music because the different instruments were loud and played at different speeds. It was a lot of fun when we got to play the instruments and clap a beat.
Harriet said "My best part was when we played the ukulele and found out which sounds we knew and didn't know. The easiest one was Star Wars.
Noah also like the Star Wars part and said "I liked the part where they played Star Wars because it was very funny'.
Emily said " My best part was when we played the ukulele because I have never played one before. I have learned lots of little bits about music. Thank you!".
Lily said "I really enjoyed listening to the two ladies playing all the instruments. It was a lot of fun when we got to play the ukulele".
Our Mythical Beasts
The Seagulls have been designing and writing about their mythical beasts. First they painted a wash for their background. Next they created the bodies of their beasts by doing rubbings from different materials. Finally they printed or painted onto their backwash. They then wrote about their beast using noun phrases, exciting sentence starters and adverbs. The display in the classroom looks fantastic!!!
We have just finished our final Christmas production. Mrs Leach and Mrs Hibbard are very proud of all the Seagulls and the effort that they have put into learning all the songs. WELL DONE
Jaymee-Leigh - I was a bit nervous when I had to stand up and say my part of the story, but I managed to do it really well and really loudly. I worked reciprocally with Emily to learn my words and I learnt them off by heart.
Alisha - I was really excited to have a speaking part. I was resilient at learning my words and on the day I was loud and clear and really good.
Georgia-Mae - I was in the choir and it was exciting. I had a lot of songs to learn and I was resilient and learnt them all.
In year 2 the children are responsible for choosing their own learning. For the next 2 weeks they have chosen to learn about dinosaurs. All of their learning in maths, English and topic work will now be based around dinosaurs.
In Literacy we practised writing questions that we wanted to research about dinosaurs. We then used Ipads and Google to research our answers.
We had fun completing dinosaur jigsaw puzzles and finding facts about dinosaurs in books.
We had to follow instructions to make dinosaur cookies. After we have baked our cookies we will be writing instructions to show how we made them. We can take our cookies home and then eat them. YUM YUM YUM.
