20.12.17 Christmas songs - click on link to Peacocks Class for the videos.
Today, our Year 6 challenge was to create our own version of a Christmas song. We wanted to choose songs that weren't originally about Christmas, so some children gave a really good persuasive argument to use any tune we know well and put Christmas words to it. We thought about our audience and purpose and chose songs that we knew other people in school would recognise. We thought about all the language we might use- linked to Christmas- and worked in groups to write our own songs. We are very proud of the results and we hope you enjoy them too.
We also discussed all the learning that we have done today and these are the things we came up with:
To think about the use of syllables and make changes
To draft and edit ideas
To use rhyme effectively
To put ideas together into a song
To produce legible handwriting at speed
To perform for an audience and purpose
To use a similar piece of writing as a model
To use pauses for effect within a presentation
To identify and use subject specific language
To be resilient when writing/performing
To work cooperatively together
To perform with confidence
To communicate effectively
To show respect to others in the year group when performing
To show respect to the ideas of others
To use fairness when developing ideas
To discuss and decide democratically what to do
To use resourcefulness when looking at the mind map of ideas
We had a fantastic time and we wish you all a very merry Christmas!
We are learning this song to perform at church as part of our Christmas celebrations.
