Year 4 Roman Day
It was lovely to see the children dressed up for our Roman Day. We had a great time making bread, cracking secret codes using roman numerals and sharing our learning with so many parents. We particularly enjoyed performing our songs 'Like a Roman' and 'The Roman Numerals Song'.
If you couldn't make it this time, here are some of the things parents said:
'Harry really enjoyed learning about the Romans so it was nice to come in and see him sing and look at the work he has been doing. Thankyou.'
'We really enjoyed the performance, particularly the actions and the bread was tasty! Jamie will definitely make more at home.'
'Have had a lovely afternoon watching the children sing Roman songs and share their topic learning.'
'Thought the songs were amazing. Georgia has loved learning about the Romans and loved dressing up today. All the children looked good in their costumes. Loved reading Georgia's topic book. It looked very interesting.'
Year 4 have been problem solving
True or false - 6 x 20 is the same
as 6 x 2 x 10?
We used concrete resources to try out our thinking and help us test our ideas.
Our Rainforest Topic
Golden Eagles have been busy learning about the rainforest this term after reading the book The Great Kapok Tree.
We wrote discussions about whether deforestation should be banned.
We wrote setting descriptions.
We used pastels to create pictures of endangered species.
Our Weather Station
Part of our geography this year is to monitor the environment so year 4 have set up a weather station. The children decided they would like to show the rest of the school what the weather is like every day so have created a weather station display.
Every day one of the children (usually the child of the day) uses a special tablet, which links to the weather station in the quad.
They take the information from it and record it on our special weather voice recorder so other children can hear a daily weather forecast.
This is also shown on our display in the corridor.
